Ed Beczynski is a lifelong Toledoan, one of eight children raised in the South End. He graduated from E.L. Bowsher High School in 1980 and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1980 to 1985 before being Honorably Discharged.
After returning home, Ed began his culinary career working for Charlie’s Restaurants. In 1996, he took a leap of faith and opened Eddy B’s in Downtown Toledo, becoming one of the pioneers of downtown revitalization. His success continued with the opening of Focaccia’s in 2001 and The Blarney Irish Pub in 2006.
Beyond his own restaurants, Ed has played a key role in Toledo’s business landscape. He partnered in ventures such as Focaccia’s Market in the Fifth Third Building and ICE Restaurant in the PNC Building. He was also contracted to manage and make financially viable Market on the Green, the only neighborhood grocery store in downtown Toledo.
Ed is deeply invested in the community—not just as a business leader, but as a proud father and grandfather. He lives in Downtown Toledo and cherishes time with his two sons, one daughter, and six grandchildren, who call him "Papa." Today, he proudly works alongside his youngest son, Travis, and Travis’ wife, Whitney, as they continue the family business while he focuses on his campaign for City Council.
Now, Ed is ready to take his leadership and experience to the next level, running for Toledo City Council to advocate for small businesses, strong neighborhoods, and public safety.
